The Instrument: Snow Per Caso HV600

The Snow Per Caso HV600 is inspired by the legendary 1743 "Il Cannone" Guarneri del Gesù — the instrument made immortal by Niccolò Paganini. Finished in a warm amber varnish prepared with clarified linseed oil, the Per Caso presents a charming golden-brown color that deepens beautifully with age and use.

More importantly it delivers the hallmark qualities of the Guarneri model: a warm, powerful, and resonant tone that projects effortlessly in any setting — from the practice room to the concert stage.

The "Masterclass" Upgrade: G. Werner German Bow

For the advancing student or serious adult musician ready for orchestral or solo performance, we recommend the German Masterclass Outfit. This configuration includes a G. Werner bow, handcrafted in a German workshop from select seasoned pernambuco.

The G. Werner Pernambuco stick offers a nuanced response for off-the-string strokes — spiccato, sautillé, ricochet — that carbon fiber simply cannot replicate. For the student entering serious repertoire, this is not a luxury. It is a technical necessity.

  • The Stick: Round or octagonal options from select seasoned pernambuco
  • The Frog: Premium ebony frog featuring a Parisian eye, fully lined with nickel-silver
  • The Grip: Professional leather with nickel-silver wire grip
  • The Hair: Finest quality Mongolian horsehair for superior grip and tone

Professional New York Setup

Every instrument that leaves our Massapequa workshop undergoes a rigorous professional setup. We do not ship instruments in a factory box. Each one is individually prepared by hand before it reaches you:

  • Custom-carved bridge (Despiau or Milo Stamm) for optimal string height and resonance
  • Fingerboard dressing — eliminating buzzes and optimizing playability across all positions
  • Professional stringing — Thomastik-Infeld Dominant, installed, tuned, and stretched
  • Soundpost adjustment for maximum tonal projection and response

This is the same standard of preparation we apply to five-figure antique instruments. Every student deserves it.

Paolo's Recommendation

"The Per Caso HV600 is the instrument I recommend for students entering Suzuki Book 3 and beyond — the moment when a serious student's ear begins to outgrow their first outfit. The Guarneri model's warmth and projection rewards advancing technique in a way a standard student violin simply cannot match.

I also recommend this instrument wholeheartedly for serious adult beginners, whether studying independently or as part of the AVS Adult Academy. Adults deserve an instrument that responds to their musical intelligence from day one. The Per Caso delivers that — immediately.

Since 2008 I have worked with Snow Violins personally. The HV600 consistently surprises players who expect a workshop instrument — it has the voice of something that costs significantly more. It is one of the most honest instruments at its price point in the market today."
